Government of Japan announces Scholarship Program for Indian Students.


Government of Japan is extending its Scholarship Program for international students for the Under Graduation programs in specialized Training Colleges, Technological Colleges and Universities through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.  This Scholarship Program is announced during the month of April every year.  This Scholarship Program covers graduation courses of tenure 3 years, 4 years and 5 years.

I.                   Specialized Training Colleges – 3 year courses:

The following programs are covered under this Scholarship Program: -

[a] Technology: Civil Engineering, Architecture, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Wireless Technology, Computer – Information Technology and others.

[b] Diet & Nutrition: Cooking and others.

[c] Education and Welfare: Nursery Teacher Training, Nursing, Sociology and others.

[d] Commerce: Administration, Transport, Commerce and others.

[e] Apparel Design and Family Economics:  Traditional Apparel Design and others.

[f] Culture & General Education: Music, Art, Designing, Photography and others.

[g] Other Departments: Technological Colleges – 4 year courses.

This Scholarship Program is available in the following streams and sub-streams of 4 years tenure. 

[1] Mechanical Engineering.
[2] Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
[3] Telecommunication and Network Engineering.
[4] Material Engineering.
[5] Architecture.

[6] Civil Engineering.
[7] Oceanography and others. 

In the following fields, this Scholarship Program is available for courses of 5 years tenure:

[z] Social Science.
[y] Anthropology.
[x] Natural Science – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.
[w] Natural Science – Medicine and Dentistry.

Educational qualifications for all the Under Graduate courses is a pass in 10+2 class examination.

How to qualify for the Scholarship Program provided by the Government of Japan?

Each year, during June, there will be a written examination and Interview / Personality Test in the campus of Japan Consulates in India.  Candidates will be short-listed and sent to the concerned Ministry viz., Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan.  Selected Candidates will be informed by February month of next year. 

How to apply for the Scholarship Program provided by the Government of Japan?

The candidates who wish to apply for these Scholarship Program may download the application forms from the website viz., http://www.studyjapan.go.jp/en  The application forms can also be had from local Japanese Consulates in India.  The completed applications should reach respective Consulates by last week of June.
